I use a Mac Mini connected to an HD TV via HDMI and for whatever reason the audio always wants to switch output from HDMI to internal speaker. This app is great because now I dont have to click through 3 menus to switch it back.

I am pleased to say that this app does exactly what I wanted. For whatever reason, my Macbook Air would not allow me to select the Base Station as an audio output. Using this app makes it much simpler than going through the preferences menu or using the keyboard shortcut.
Handy, but doesnt work if you have two or more outputs that have the same name. I have two "USB Audio DAC" outputs, and clicking on either selects the first one, but shows a check mark on both. So there is no way to select the second "USB Audio DAC".
I am writing this as the support link doesnt seem to have any contact info. When I launched this the first time after using a Beta it froze. When I tried to quit it from Activity Monitor I finally realized that the process name was blank. Not very helpful. So now it is working and I am not getting errors in the concole but this does need some cleanup to be a proper app.
I switch between a few airplay devices depending on where I am in the house, this is perfect.
Very convenient app. Thank you!
good app i recommend it
Wonderful program! An extremely simple menu bar utility to switch to my AirPlay speakers, so easy that anyone can use it. Love that I dont have to go digging around in my System Preferences and can switch my audio input and output in one simple easy step!
This does exactly what you want it to do minus a few things that would make it much better. It doesnt rescan for more devices once its started. So you have to restart it to get the ins and outs of whatever you have just plugged in. It also doesnt remember what you want to ignore when you restart it. So you have to check that stuff every time. Its almost faster to just go to system preferences and change the outputs the "old fashioned way". Like I said its good but not great, I would hope to see these improvements in an update soon.
I matched this app after configuring my 2 apple thunderbolt displays to aggregate audio output on both monitors. Now I can easily select which monitor I want to control.
The audio switcher is extremely useful when you have multiple inputs and/or outputs. It can even set its default startup devices. One thing that makes this a little less strightforward is how the pop up menu doesn’t close even when it’s not in focus, and I have to go click on the smallish menu icon just to close it. That really is unintuitive, unexpected, and almost doubles the time required to switcht he audio itself. There’s no option to change this in the settings either. Please fix. Thank you.
Great for controlling volume on multi-output device. Fixes oversight which causes native volume control to break.
I use this with a software utility that augments the sound of internal speakers. Gives greater control over the overall amount of audio boost, and has more options for sample rate that I didn’t even know exited. Five Stars.
Cannot install on 10.7 as listed above. Installation FAILS because U MUST HAVE 10.8 or above. Now useless for all my machines.
will not even open an i have the latest os
The software is simple enough and it works great with my different audio options.
I was looking for a app to control my Airplay devices outside of iTunes and this one does the job, but I do have a issue running more than one Airplay device at a time. I have two Panasonic Airplay speakers which work fine with iTunes, but can only get one speaker to work at a time with AudioSwitcher.
This is a very nice little utility, and the developer, Paul, is incredibly responsive.
Thank you for this application. I was having a problem before I got your app with an apple bug where I could not set the output audio to my computer speakers. As soon as I would set it in sound settings it would switch back to an Airplay device such as Apple TV. Your App FIXED my problem, it did what the apple software did not. Thank you.
Puts audio source switching on your menu bar, where you need it, not buried somewhere in preference menus. Easily switch between audio input and output sources. º Provides the ability to “hide” unused sources, custom-tailoring the menu to those devices that you have. º Provides controls for sampling rate, volume, and muting for audio devices (based on the capabilities of those devices). º Provides the ability to set the default startup audio devices (input and output) Unless you just listen to sound coming from your Macs internal speakers, you need this app! A great application that just keeps getting better, created and supported by a responsive, active developer.
